Susan Bijl

In 2000, Dutch student Susan Bijl created her first New Shopping Bag with the aim of reducing waste from plastic bag production. The original design of the bag was based on the shape of a generic plastic bag. Susan Bijl added her own touch by creating a colorful variation, made of Ripstop nylon. The same fabric that kites are made of, Ripstop is indestructible and lightweight. Not only is it strong and durable, but it can hold a lot of weight. Using fabrics made with the Bluesign certificate eliminates harmful substances from the production process. Since the end of 2019, all fabrics are made from recycled materials.
